If you wish a leisurely pace,

we are located just far enough inland for you to avoid the hustle and bustle of the summer crowd. Rowan Tree Farm has:

  • Peaceful porches and decks with comfortable chairs for lounging, talking, and reading. And we have a hammock in a grove of trees near the house for napping.

  • Hiking trails around our gently rolling farmland, for casual strolling, observing wild plants and animals, photography, and perhaps painting. In the winter we enjoy skiing and snowshoeing when the snow is deep, and we have a few hills for sledding and tobogganing.

  • Private riverfront, with many special spots for sitting, relaxing, and observing.

  • A dock for swimming and fishing.  In the winter, when conditions are right, we have ice skating.

(Click the Landscape link for Photos of the farm in Spring, Summer, Fall, & Winter.)

For a more active pace,

we have quick access to many different inland and coastal areas, with well-maintained state roads to travel without heavy Route One traffic.

  • You may rent a double kayak and single or double SeaBikes to rent (click to see what these are) , for exploring Seven Tree Pond, White Oak Pond, and Round Pond via the connecting parts of the St George River.

  • You also may rent our electric golf cart (the "Goat Mobile") for traveling the many trails around the farm and along the waterfront.  It is great for those whose time or ability is limited.  With folding deck chairs and a lunch on board, it is a great way to enjoy a picnic and the natural beauty of our property.

Further a field,

our guests have access to all that Maine (Vacationland) has to offer.

Locally, there are small towns, small shops, small farms, flea markets, antique stores, and the Union Fairgrounds.  We have maps and brochures to help you gather information and make decisions.

There are nearby mountaintop drives and hikes for spectacular scenery.

There are numerous boat launches on rivers and lakes in the area if you have your own canoe or kayak.

Lighthouse tours, day sailing, whale watching, windjammer cruises, museums, art galleries, specialty shops, fishing villages, islands, sightseeing, etc.

The links below will help you explore your many opportunities.
